Tampa, Fla. (Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The flood watch is history and the dry out is underway around Tampa Bay. After two days of flooding rain the cool front has pushed on through and has moved the rain away.
Today's rain was light compared to yesterday. Temple Terrace was the hardest hit with almost 9 inches of rain. Tampa set a record for the date with over 3 inches of rain. Busch Gardens and USF had parking lots that looked like lakes. Over 2,500 TECO customers lost power.
The Red Cross had set up a shelter for people forced out of their homes on North 46th Street in Tampa.
All the rain and high water also caused the Curran waste water plant to leak out a little sewage into the Seddon Channel, so people are being advised not to swim or fish in the channel until at least Monday.
