Ed Sheeran took a few minutes away from rehearsing for Saturday Night Live to call in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest and discuss his new single, upcoming album … and Ryan’s dream about him.
After Ryan explained the dream he had the other night about watching Ed ride a bicycle — to which the singer replied, “I’m happy you’re dreaming about me” — the two got down to business.
As for his brand new single, “Sing,” which is a mix of Ed singing falsetto and rapping, he explained, “I feel like I was veering off in one direction with that song … to kind of make it a very R&B song. I wanted to pull it back and make it English, which is why I put the rap in it.”
Some of OAWRS‘ staffers were lucky enough to go to Ed’s album release party for X, where he told the crowd that he worried he had shared too much with the songs and lyrics. What did he mean by that?
“It’s a very honest album, I guess. Any time I went through anything I felt I needed to get off my chest, I put it in a song. It’s just a way to get over things.”
So then who’s he trying to get over in “Sing?” Ellen K. asked Ed.
“Someone I met in Vegas,” the Brit revealed. “It was last summer. We went out for food afterwards … sushi.”
