Food Insecurity Under The Microscope In Miami

Food insecurity front and center as Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried hosts a roundtable with South Florida elected officials and non-profit leaders. Miami City Commission Vice Chair Ken Russell says they need to get creative with the federal stimulus funds coming in over the next year. He suggests community development agencies get together, assess needs and pull a pot for the underserved communities. Miami is one of the nation's most food-insecure areas with more than 240-thousand in Miami-Dade chronically hungry.
