All's fair in love and longing, even when the blossoming feelings of a budding new romance makes you want to die.
Olivia Rodrigo explores this idea in her new song "drop dead," the lead single from her upcoming third studio album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
"One night I was bored in bed/ And I stalked you on the internet/ It's feminine intuition/ 'Cause I always had a vision of us standing like this," she sings in the chorus. "All pressed up in the bathroom line/ You lookin' like an angel on the walls of Versailles/ The most alive I've ever been/ But kiss me and I might drop dead."
Rodrigo also shared a music video directed by Petra Collins that was shot at the iconic Palace of Versailles in France, the singer running through the historic and extravagant setting, dancing, twirling and embodying the chaotic feeling of new romance. She boasted her excitement for both the song and the dreamy visuals in a post on Instagram.
"I love this song so much!!! it's the first chapter in the story of 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love' and it makes me wanna skip around and roll the windows down and make out," she said. "I was lucky enough to film the music video at the palace of Versailles a few months ago with the wonderful [Collins] and I'm so stoked with how it turned out. I hope you guys love it as much as I do xoxoxoxo."
