Flooding On The Treasure Coast, Some Areas Under 3.5 Feet Of Water

Portions of Martin County are underwater Thursday after constant rains

One neighborhood in Hobe Sound is under 3.5 feet of water.

Martin County Public Works crews were positioned across the county, blocking off some neighborhoods that still had dangerous levels of standing water.

Public Works staff members inspected and worked on drainage systems in low lying areas as quickly as possible before more rain moves through. Crews have since set up a portable drainage pump to combat the unwanted water.

Other cities in Martin County are also underwater.

In Stuart, cars were stuck and tow truck companies were called in. Several drivers had to be rescued from trapped vehicles.

Flood watches have been extended on the Treasure Coast until 4 p.m. Saturday.

The flooding is also going on in counties to the north.

Meanwhile, Palm Beach County is not immune from the water as a flood watch is now in effect until 8 a.m. Friday.
