As we say hello to the first day of May here in Tampa Bay, we can finally stop seeing those silly Justin Timberlake memes "It's Gonna be MAY" ... which aren't even the official lyrics anyway (insert eyeroll here).
I think we sometimes forget that we live in an area where 90% of the rest of the country comes to vacation at least once in their lifetime. We must make use of it all - and not forget how incredibly lucky we are.
There are plenty of things to do in Tampa Bay area.. and here's some suggestions for the month of May:
Find a NEW Place To Eat
Tampa is home to many cultures of food - if you haven't tried a Cuban Sandwich here in Tampa, YOU ARE NOT LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE. Now that I've gotten that out of the way... here's a few different places to try this month.
Grille 54 - A place to check out when you want to get together with the ladies for brunch on a Sunday. For a reasonable price, you'll get an endless buffet of breakfast, lunch, dinner - and desserts --- oh, AND BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS as well! It may not be a place you hang out every week, but it's a place you don't want to miss out on.
Columbia Restaurant - Known as "Florida’s Oldest Restaurant", established in 1905, Columbia Restaurant serves up old world style Spanish food. You will LOVE the amazing architecture of this building; not to mention the world class food. Everything on the menu is excellent and full of flavor. I took my mother here for her birthday last year... but it's great for any occasion. It's in Ybor city, so stop in for a meal after walking around seeing the sights and shops of Ybor.
Datz - This place in South Tampa is a little bit of everything, from gourmet burgers and coffee to chicken and waffles, fish tacos, and craft cocktails. No matter what your taste buds are craving -- you WILL find something on the menu. Not to mention --- they have a bakery next door... geniusly named Datz Dough. ;)
Challenge yourself -- we live in the beautiful state of Florida, We see the amazing sunsets each day - why not look down on your city while jumping from a plane? My friend and co-worker Brian Fink tends to skydive at least a few times a year, I know he'd recommend Sky Dive City as a place to try out.
Visit The Zoo!
When was the last time you actually took a relaxing walk among some of the world's finest, and most fascinating creatures? Gotta recommend Lowry Park Zoo!
Lowry Park Zoo was voted the #1 Family Friendly Zoo in the US by Parents Magazine, The zoo also exists as a center for conservation of endangered wildlife both locally and around the globe.
There is fun for children and adults of all ages. Coming this month... Art Classes!
Great for walking, or a nice afternoon bike ride. Tampa Riverwalk frequently host festivals and concerts throughout the year.
