Just about a year ago, my 11 year marriage ended. Nothing scandalous. We realized over time that we were much better as friends than romantic partners and decided to amicably divorce and co-parent our children. But even with an incredibly peaceful split, it was by far the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life. Ever.
I learned so many lessons through the process. The biggest takeaway might just be that life is too short to be worried about what other people think. Do what you want, what makes sense for you, what makes you happy and forget the rest! As long as you're not hurting anyone else, live your life! One time I mentioned on the air that I was embarrassed to be going through a divorce and a listener called me to tell me, "Unless they're paying your bills, their opinion doesn't matter" and that quote has really stuck with me.
So, I've been going with my gut instincts, ignoring the fear of judgment and following my heart. It led me to an amazing man.
I'll try to keep him relatively out of the spotlight but his name is Paul and he's an attorney here in Tampa.
We fell in love, he proposed and I said yes!
My kids adore him and vice versa which to me was the most important part. I'm extremely happy and feel so blessed to have this second chance.
Of course he went to IDC for the ring. I've been endorsing them on the radio for close to 10 years! They're the best! It's a solitaire, round diamond on a platinum setting. It's absolutely gorgeous and I can't stop staring at it! Thanks to all the folks at International Diamond Center who helped Paul pick the perfect ring!
I posted the proposal video on my Facebook page! We had a trip planned to Mexico City but it was cancelled at the last minute. He didn't want to wait another second so he surprised me at the place he knew I would be the MOST surprised...at my sister's hair salon in Orlando!
