The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar Team Up For "Pray For Me" (LISTEN)

Marvel's Black Panther movie is almost here, and so is the full soundtrack. And here to give us another taste of the 14 song set is Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd with a new track called "Pray For Me."

So far, we've heard Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future and James Blake's "King's Dead" and Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All the Stars," so "Pray For Me" marks the third offering from the Black Panther soundtrack, curated by Lamar.

On the futuristic uptempo "Pray For Me," The Weeknd and Kendrick sing and rap about loyalty. Weeknd kicks off the song, and sings in the chorus, "Who gon' pray for me?/Take my pain for me?/Save my soul for me?/'Cause I'm alone, you see/If I'm gon' die for you/If I'm gon' kill for you/Then I'll spill this blood for you." Kendrick comes in on the second verse with, "I fight the world, I fight you, I fight myself/I fight God, just tell me how many burdens left/I fight pain and hurricanes, today I wept."

The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar have previously teamed up before. Lamar joined the singer on his 2016 Starboy album for their collab "Sidewalks." And as far as Marvel goes, The Weeknd already has a relationship with the brand as they were turning Starboy into a comic book. The singer had teased his Black Panther song by posting an image of the comic to his Instagram, as well as the movie trailer.

The Black Panther soundtrack drops on February 9th, exactly a week before the film hits theaters. The album also features artists including, Khalid, Swae Lee, ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Vince Staples, Yugen Blakrok, Jorja Smith, Ab-Soul, Anderson .Paak, James Blake, Zacari, Travis Scott, and more.
