FIU Launches Tracker To Help Monitor SFL For COVID-19

Miami-Dade is the hottest spot in Florida for COVID-19 with at least 26,239 on record, the most in the state.

Researchers at Florida International University are launching a Miami-Dade COVID-19 trend tracker which is a website dedicated to monitoring long and short term trends.

Dr. Mary Jo Trepka, chair of FIU's Epidemiology department, says the surge comes as no surprise as the state slowly reopens.

The website is only tracker specific to South Florida and, unlike the health department website, it reports the average change over time.

It also looks at impacts on local hospitals to ensure they don't get overloaded.

For more information go to the Miami-Dade County COVID-19 Trend Tracker.
