After more than a year, the first cruise ship to set sail from the U.S. could be from the Port of Palm Beach.
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is scheduled to lead the nation in resuming cruises on July 2nd. The Grand Classica is expected to set sail for Freeport.
The company says it's working with the Centers for Disease Control on a plan to get back up and running.
The cruise line is accepting bookings for the two-night trip.
Earlier this month, the CDC had set new guidelines for cruise lines to begin voyages with volunteer passengers to help test whether the ships can sail safely during a pandemic. The agency is calling for nearly all passengers to be vaccinated, but Florida has a ban against so-called "vaccine passports," which could stop this voyage in its tracks.
Florida filed a lawsuit against the CDC and a judge in Tampa has ordered both sides into mediation.
