The family of a 13-year old boy who died after crashing his dirt bike while being followed by a police officer is calling for that cop to be fired.

"We demand that the City of Boynton Beach immediately...immediately terminates Officer Mark Sohn from its force to protect the citizens of Boynton Beach."

Attorney Jasmine Rand is working with high-profile civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump and fellow attorney Sue Ann Robinson, to represent the family of Stanley Davis III.

In Fort Lauderdale Tuesday, they claimed the officer has been involved in high-speed chases that led to the death of two other African-Americans, including a five year old boy.

Robinson referred to Sohn as "an officer who has a documented history of violent acts against Black people in the Boynton Beach community."

National civil rights activist Tamika Mallory with the group "Until Freedom" says she was called to South Florida to help the boy's family.

"There are people who'll say that we're race baiters and that we're trouble makers and yet I would never have been here, I would not have been asked to come if it had not been for the fact that an officer has killed children."

Officials say Davis crashed the dirt bike after video shows the 13-year old putting gas in the bike and then riding off as a police car pulls into the gas station. There is also video showing a police cruiser following Davis.

The boy's family says there shouldn't have been a pursuit in the first place.

According to reports, the Boynton Beach Police Department's pursuit policy states that there must be an immediate danger to the officer or public, more so than the danger of the pursuit, and a pursuit must only happen if an officer believes a forcible felony has been committed, like an armed robbery or a murder.

Sohn remains on leave while the FHP is investigating.

We've reached out to Police Chief Michael Gregory for comment on this case, but he has not responded.
