DeSantis Calls For Special Session to Redraw Congressional Map

Governor Ron DeSantis is calling for a special legislative session to create a new Congressional map. He's vetoed the one already submitted by lawmakers.

Lawmakers are expected to redraw the map at the special session in mid-April. Senate President Wilton Simpson and House Speaker Chris Sprowls issuing a joint statement reading in part, "Our goal is for Florida to have a new congressional map passed by the Legislature, signed by the governor, and upheld by the court if challenged. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to exhaust every effort in pursuit of a legislative solution."
