Jacobee Flowers Sentenced to 40 Years for 2012 Murder

The man who admitted killing his 17-year-old pregnant girlfriend back in 2012 is headed to prison for the next 40 years.

34-year old Jacobee Flowers, who's believed to be the father of the child, was charged with the murder of Morgan Martin. Martin's mother, Leah, is still upset that her daughter's body has never been found. "That's the part. I just wanted her home," said Martin, who appeared to be satisfied with the sentence. "The 40 years will be great," she said. At one point during today's sentencing hearing, Leah Martin took the stand to deliver a victim impact statement, and minced no words as she stared at Flowers. "I really hope that every bit of you dies inside," she said. "I hope that nothing good comes to you--ever."

Flowers recently accompanied detectives to Pike County, Alabama, but a search for Martin's remains turned up nothing. He could have received a lighter sentence if the body had been found. "We are looking at a cotton field by the side of a highway on a 50-plus acre farm," said St. Petersburg police spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez. "Honestly, we've been pointed in one area, but it has been 10 years."
