The Tampa Bay Rays (53-49) defeated the Chicago White Sox (36-66) 4-3 on Tuesday night at Steinbrenner Field. With the win, the Rays have evened the three-game series at 1-1.
The Rays got all four of their runs in the second inning, beginning when Junior Caminero came home from third to score on a balk from White Sox starter Davis Martin. Moments later Jose Cabalerro hit a single that allowed two runs to score - Caballero advanced all the way to third on an error from Chicago center fielder Michael Taylor. Taylor Walls added a RBI groundout to lift the Rays to a 4-0 lead.
The White Sox rallied with two in the fourth and one in the seventh but would only pull within 4-3. Rays starter Drew Rasmussen only pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits in which he struck out five and walked one. Edwin Uceta (7-2, 5.04) got the win out of the bullpen - Pete Fairbanks closed out the game to earn his seventeenth save.
The Rays will now look to win the series against the White Sox when they meet in the series finale on Wednesday night. Taj Bradley (6-6, 4.35) is scheduled to start for the Rays, and face Jonathan Cannan (4-7, 4.17) for Chicago.
