The Tampa Bay Rays (59-63) defeated the Athletics (54-69) 8-2 late Wednesday night to win the three-game series in West Sacramento.
The Rays got four runs in the first inning to take control of this game. Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer in the second and Junior Caminero hit a two-run homer in the ninth to account for the Rays offense. Caminero finished the game 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and has homered in six of his last seven games.
Drew Rasmussen allowed two runs - one of them earned - in six innings of work in which he allowed three hits while striking out five and walking none to get the win.
The Rays are now off Thursday and will travel to San Francisco for the final series of their long West Coast swing beginning on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 10:15 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting Inside Pitch at 9:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
