The Tampa Bay Rays (70-69) defeated the Seattle Mariners (73-67) 9-4 on Wednesday night at Steinbrenner Field to sweep the three-game series.
The Rays came to life early, getting four in the first and four in the second to take control of the game. Yandy Diaz's five-hit game helped key the offense throughout. Adrian Houser (8-4, 3.01) allowed four runs - all of them earned - on four hits in seven innings while striking out eight and walking one.
The Rays remain at home and will host the Cleveland Guardians for a four-game series beginning on Thursday night. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 7:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
