TAMPA -- The calendar has Tampa's number.
Today, August 13th, is 8-1-3 Day. In recent years the calendar date matching Tampa's area code has become a celebration of the city and its nearby suburbs on social media, complete with its own hashtag, with pictures of all things Tampa, including the Bay, pirate ships, Cuban sandwiches and pro sports teams.
Given the championships won by the Buccaneers and Lightning, more activity than usual can be expected, including a few pictures of boat parade.
Sparkman Wharf in downtown Tampa is planning a party with live bands this evening from 5 to 9.
This is the last 813 Day with Tampa having only the 813 area code. The overlay area code 656 goes into effect for Tampa early next year. Unfortunately, "6-56" is not a date in the Gregorian calendar, at least until June of 2056.
