Tampa, FL - Tampa International Airport officials are preparing for one of the busiest travel periods of the year, as nearly 924,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The projected travel window runs from November 20th through December 1st, according to airport officials.

The airport’s busiest day is expected to be Sunday, November 30th, when approximately 86,000 travelers are forecast to arrive or depart.

Officials are advising passengers to plan ahead for longer wait times, limited parking, and increased roadway traffic around the terminals.

Construction crews are continuing work on an airside shuttle replacement project, which may result in only one set of shuttle cars running between terminals.

Passengers are also being warned to expect longer TSA security lines during peak hours.

Drivers are reminded that parking along the parkway is prohibited and that those not checking luggage should use express lanes to avoid curbside congestion.

Travelers are encouraged to reserve parking spaces at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee availability.

Airport officials also reminded passengers that items like cranberry sauce, jams, jellies, gravy, and bottled wine are not permitted through security checkpoints.

To help save time, travelers can order food and drinks ahead from participating airport restaurants using mobile options.

Airport officials say these steps can help ease congestion and improve the travel experience during one of the busiest times of the year.
