Tampa, FL - Former University of South Florida quarterback Byrum Brown has announced he is transferring to Auburn, ending his time with the Bulls and setting up the next chapter of his college football career in the Southeastern Conference.
Brown entered the NCAA transfer portal in December and made his decision after visiting Auburn and reconnecting with head coach Alex Golesh, who previously coached him at USF before taking the Auburn job.
The move reunites Brown with a coaching staff familiar with his skill set as Auburn continues to reshape its roster ahead of the upcoming season.
During his final season at USF, Brown put together one of the most productive years by any quarterback in the country.
He threw for more than 3,100 yards with 28 touchdowns while adding over 1,000 yards rushing and 14 more scores on the ground, making him one of the most dangerous dual threat players in the nation.
He was the only FBS player to reach those combined passing and rushing marks in the same season.
Over his career with the Bulls, Brown accounted for thousands of yards of total offense and dozens of touchdowns, helping lead USF to a successful season and earning conference recognition for his performance.
Auburn adds Brown at a time when the program is looking for stability and production at quarterback following roster turnover.
He is expected to compete for the starting job and provide experience, athleticism, and leadership to an offense being rebuilt under Golesh.
His arrival marks one of the most notable transfer moves for both programs this offseason.
