Tampa Bay Caribbean Carnival Happening on Saturday & Other Weekend Events

There are tons of events happening in and around Tampa Bay this weekend. Entertainment and Events reporter for the Tampa Bay Times, Sharon Wynne, helped us put together this list of things you can enjoy.

Tampa Bay Caribbean Carnival

Noon-11 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Perry Harvey, Sr. Park, 1201 N Orange St., Tampa.

Sunscreen Film Festival

Sundial 12, 151 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. 

The 17th annual festival is credited as the reason there have been a ton of films made in this area in recent years. The festival offers excellent independent films, fun parties, workshops, and mixing and mingling with some of the best and brightest filmmakers in the world. Get your TICKETS HERE

Fiesta on the St. Pete Pier

This year, Cinco De Mayo falls on a Thursday, so some places are kicking off the party this weekend. Head over to Spa Beach Park at St. Pete Pier on Saturday. You can participate in the fiesta filled with entertainment, tacos, tequila, margaritas, a mariachi band, and a performance by Sol Caribe. Get your TICKETS HERE.

St. Anthony’s Triathlon This was canceled because of COVID but it’s back with Olympic-level athletes running, biking, and swimming in downtown St. Petersburg. There are also events for lesser athletes:

--Meek and Mighty: Junior athletes from across the globe dive in for a 100-200 meter swim, followed by a 3.6-5.4K bike and a 0.5- to 1-mile run. $45-$70. 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30. North Shore Pool, 901 North Shore Drive NE, St. Petersburg. 727-825-1521.

--Olympic Triathlon: Athletes from across the globe dive in for a 1.5K swim, followed by a 40K bike and a 10K run. $150-$200. 6:50 a.m. Sunday, May 1. Spa Beach at the Pier approach, 615 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. 727-825-1521.

--Sprint Triathlon: A 750-meter swim, followed by a 20K bike and a 5K run. $80-$110. 8:45 a.m. Sunday, May 1. Spa Beach at the Pier approach, 615 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. 727-825-1521.

Cars and Coffee

This will be put on by the Main Straight and will be held at Bahama Breeze on Sunday evening

Ukraine Benefit Night

81Bay Brewing Company will be hosting an event on Friday at 7 PM to benefit the defense of Ukraine & its people. There will be live music, live art, raffles, and a new beer release, "Slava Ukraini!"

According to 81 Bay Brewing's Facebook Post, all proceeds from Slava Ukraini!, all monetary donations, and all auction proceeds will go directly to a textile manufacturer in the Ukraine who is producing clothing in active war zones for Ukraine's Territorial Defense, which is a citizen militia defending the towns and citizens of Ukraine.

Tampa Bay Lightning Scavenger Hunt & Playoff Pep Rally

There is a city-wide scavenger hunt happening right now where a new objective is unlocked each day, culminating at Sunday's Playoff Pep Rally at Sparkman Wharf. Complete the quest for a chance to win a playoff prize pack, which includes a pair of lower-level tickets for the first home playoff game.

The pep rally at Sparkman Wharf from 3-7 PM on Sunday will include giveaways, Lightning bingo, playoff swag, etc. DETAILS HERE
