Pinellas and Hillsborough Open Cooling Stations For Helene Survivors

TAMPA -- Comfort stations for survivors of Hurricane Helene are open in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.

In Pinellas County, several recreation centers, libraries and other facilities are serving those without power and in need of a cooldown. Here are listings by city:

Clearwater

Morningside Recreation Center, 2400 Harn Blvd, Clearwater - 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tarpon Springs

Tarpon Springs Community Center, 444 S. Huey Ave. , Tarpon Springs - Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gulfport

Gulfport Senior Center, located at 5501 27th Ave. S., Gulfport - open through Oct. 4, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dunedin

First United Methodist Church of Dunedin, 421 Main St., Dunedin - Monday, Sept. 30, through Thursday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In Hillsborough County, the county and city of Tampa are offering comfort stations at these six locations. The four in the unincorporated area will offer restrooms, showers and laundry services, with free food, water and ice tomorrow. There will also be a pop-up permit center for permits and inspections related to storm damage repair.

Once opened, the comfort stations will be operational daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice at the following locations:

Starting tomorrow, the American Red Cross will serve lunch from 11:30-12:30 and dinner 5:30-6:30 at all comfort station locations in Hillsborough.
